Back in 2012, Amadeus launched the Amadeus Traveller Trend Observatory (ATTO)with a clear objective:to improve our traveler understanding in an ongoing basis: their motivations, needs and expectations, as we believe that only by a thorough understanding of the traveler we will be in the position to support our travel providers on shaping the future of travel.

A key priority of the ATTO is to monitor trends impacting the industry. Keytrends we are focusing today arebig data, IOT, wearables, bio sensors and how all of these technological improvements can better serve the purpose of travel personalization. We monitor the sharing economy and the shift that this has represented in the consumer mindset (owning things vs having experiences). We study the effect of an aging society (21% of the population will be over 60 in 2050) and the challenges that this will pose to travel. And finally, we analyze the role that mobile will continue to play as a key enabler for some of the needs expressed by the travelers.

This presentation will portray how 3 different types of travelers are articulating different travel expectations. Some of the most relevant ones are to be able to choose personalized and differentiated experiences, to empower the traveler to make the right choices at the right price, to give them room for spontaneity choosing some of the destination services along the travel journey and to offer them an ongoing and proactive customer support specially related to disruptions, safety and accessibility.
