Giorgos Papastamatiou was born in Athens in 1966. He studied Computer Science in the University of Heraklion, Crete (1988) and he holds a Masters degree from the University of Manchester, UK (1992). His field of expertise is the optimization of business performance. In the last 27 years, he has been engaged with startups as well as with existing enterprises of the private sector in the areas of e-commerce, e-payments, payment transactions systems, receivables and cash flow management. In Jan 2013 he has been appointed Managing Director of FORTHcrs, subsidiary of FORTHNET SA.
In FORTHcrs, Giorgos’ vision is to expand the company, so as it becomes the main international distribution network of the ferry industry in the new travel landscape. To that extend, together with the professionals of FORTHcrs, he is building necessary add-ons that will develop a productive eco-system between ferry operators, travelers, travel agents, complementary services providers such as hotels and port authorities. Thus, all participants of the eco-system improve their performance through continuously increased customer experience. These add-ons include modern, fully comprehensive payment systems, unified credit limit management, usability on mobile devices, management of intermodal transportation, dynamic destination management, check-in systems in Ports and paperless tickets for ferries. FORTHcrs has been recognized for these developments by its clients and has already been distinguished in awards, such as 2014 Byte Awards and 2015 Tourism Awards.
